The Motor Car – 1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I Long Wheelbase Limousine

I’m really excited about this one — our recently purchased 1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I Long Wheelbase (LWB) with Division. Finished in beautiful Shell Grey with a subtle blue pinstripe, this rare chauffeur-driven model has the extra-long wheelbase and privacy division that make it ideal for weddings and special occasions.

It was ordered on June 3, 1959 by Jay Kasler, VP of the Free Sewing Machine Co. in Beverly Hills, through the Rolls-Royce dealer Peter Satori of California at a cost of $19,681. The car was loaded with options, including full front and rear air conditioning, power steering, electric windows, rear seat vanities, rear radio controls, and the special sheepskin mouton overlay for the rear passengers.

History & Provenance Jay Kasler, the son of Russian immigrants, built an impressive life in California. After starting several companies, he and some friends founded City National Bank in Beverly Hills in 1954 — he was its first Chairman of the Board. This Silver Cloud was driven for nearly 15 years almost exclusively by the family’s longtime chauffeur, Raymond Russell Jones, who had been with the Kaslers since 1940 (except for his time in the U.S. military during WWII). Mr. Jones was the only person behind the wheel until his retirement.

The car stayed in the family the entire time. In 1988, Mrs. Kasler’s daughter, Mrs. Alex Roger, inherited it and invested approximately $25,000 (~$70,000 inflation adjusted to 2026) in a careful restoration — repainting it in its original Shell Grey, refinishing the wood, updating the interior, and performing many mechanical improvements. After she passed, it went to her son and then to her great-grandson, who still cares for it today. The service records have been kept meticulously since new and are carefully stored today. It’s hard to imagine better provenance than this.
